The Barber

Told partly through the eyes of a dementia sufferer, populated by ‘ghosts’ from his past, this drama portrays a father and son at a crossroad. As Miles struggles to shave the elderly and unloving father he’s planning to put in a home, the physical closeness unleashes emotions and a bond that neither of them had thought was there.

This political drama is set in a small border-town during the height of 'The Troubles' in Northern Ireland. Joe, a dedicated, hardworking mechanic, services cars for both sides of the political divide and refuses to drawn into the conflict — something that both communities view with increased suspicion. As Joe restores a vintage Volkswagen for his friend the local RUC inspector, a young Republican sees this as the perfect opportunity to make a name for himself within the IRA. Unfortunately as events transpire Joe is forced into the impossible decision of endangering the people closest to him or becoming a co-conspirator.
